The PGA Tour Championship is more than just a tournament, it’s a tradition, and a grand stage where legacies are born, a stage where greatness is forged and legacies are etched into history. After an exciting Masters tournament, we’ve found our way to yet another major event, and one where all the best players in the world will collide once again. Coming into this tournament, there are many intriguing story lines to follow, and some that may play an important part in history if accomplished.

Scottie Scheffler has been the hottest name in golf over the course of the last few years, and is continuing to keep his #1 streak alive as he continues to chase Tiger Wood's almost impossible record. Rory McIlroy is also looking to repeat his past Valhalla success, and put a stop to the continuous triumph that Scheffler continues to possess. To add to the drama, Koepka remains the only player to win a major as an active LIV Golf player, and with a win we could see a storm of debate, and upset fans as the two tours continue to cause drama in the world of golf. One thing is for certain, this should be a very exciting Major, so let’s break down the story lines, and take a look at what it all means for this year's 2024 PGA Tour Championship.

Winning the Masters is no easy feat, and winning back-to-back Masters is something most players may never accomplish in their career. Cementing his name up there with some of the greats at such a young age, Scottie Scheffler comes into the PGA Championship with hopes of adding to his young legacy, and continue to keep his winning ways alive and active. If Scottie were to prevail, it would be his fifth victory in his last six events, and remarkably enough, you’d believe we were entering a new era since Tiger Woods reign of the helm. Scottie previously tied for second in last year's PGA Championship, and with how consistent and close he got last year, it seems as if he has his eye on the prize as he looks to add to his impressive resume.

With everything aligning for Scheffler, one player in particular may be standing in the way of victory, Rory Mallory. Having won twice in 2012 and 2014, Rory has claimed back-to-back victories in his last two events, and is coming into the PGA Championship with quite the hot hand. Having won it twice, being one of the most popular faces and loyal members of the PGA Tour, he’ll be feeling quite confident and very willing to do what it takes to prevail and steal the throne from the favourite, Scheffler. This should be a very intriguing and interesting match-up as the days move on through the weekend, and it wouldn’t be surprising if we see a star-studded finish, coming down to the wire with a stroke or two lead.

With all this talk about the PGA Tour, we can’t forget the players of the LIV. The LIV has been taking the game by storm, and one of those players apart from the tour who’s been remarkable is none other than Brooks Koepka. Winning the only major as a LIV player since the merger of the tour, he’ll look to claim victory or the PGA Championship once again, just as he had back in 2018. The tension and the rise of concern between the PGA and the LIV has been never drama since stars signed their deals, and it should be interesting to see what never drama unfold, if a LIV player were to steal the spotlight from the PGA.

One thing is for certain, this should a tournament for the ages, and the talent, along with the weekend should be a memorable one for golf fans around the world.
