The 2025 Australian Open has returned, where the only thing hotter than the sun is the competition on the court, and occasionally, the tempers of the players. It's time sports fans like myself, and tennis enthusiasts head back "down under", and I don't mean with the hot date you found at the bar this past weekend! The Australian Open is about to begin in the coming weeks, and it couldn't come at a better time, as most sports are getting close to the all-star break. As we all sit inside during the winter months, there's nothing better than having the luxury of some of the most beautiful sports athletes play the game we love, while wearing as many clothes as we love (Hint: barely anything at all). It's been a long break, but with it finally over the season should kick off on a delightful note, and for those of you a little out of the loop, let me break it down for you!

Nick Kyrgios, the bad boy of tennis, is making his return to the game, and of course it's on none other than his own home soil. There's been numerous cheating scandals and doping cases going around this off season, especially between both top ranked players Iga Świątek and Jannik Sinner, which has caused a lot of drama. With no suspension what-so-ever, after both being caught it was has claimed to be an "honest mistake" The tennis community has been in shambles over the discovery, and all over X (formally Twitter) you can find trails of input from Kyrgios. Nonetheless, you can expect about as much drama as a daytime Soap Opera to kick off the season, especially if these two were to meet in the grand stage.

On the other side of things, Djoker will seek to win a grand slam this year, something he was unable to accomplish last year as he slowly declines into retirement, and the next-gen talent keeps improving. Just recently upset in a warm-up tournament against USA's very own Riley Opelka, things aren't looking good for Djoker, and it seems father time may try to take him out this year. It's an honour to watch the remaining member of the big 3 continue to attempt to add to his legacy, but at some point you have to walk off into the sunset, and there's no better view than after Australia!

Lastly, we'll finally get another year of Carlos Alcaraz, the stunning Spaniard who's a mirror image of Nadal who's made life a living hell for everyone on the tour. At his pace, he could go down as one of the greatest every to play the game, as long as he continues to win and make everyone miserable. On a serious note, it's not every so often you get a remarkable talent like a Jordan, Gretzky, Serena, or Woods that comes along at such a young age, and this is clearly one in the making, so let's try to enjoy the ride.

Nonetheless, as we freeze our asses off in the cold months of winter (unless you're in a sunshine state) It'll be nice to get a glimpse of what's to come in future days for us, all while getting to get some action on one of the hottest tournaments of the year.
