With the end of winter finally upon us, not only is it time to crack a beer on a nice sunny day, or step outside for an afternoon BBQ, it's finally that time of year when full-grown men in polo shirts become superheroes for a weekend at Augusta National Golf Club. If you haven't clued in yet, we're talking about the most prestigious tournament in all of golf, The Masters! On April 10th, the best from around the world won't only compete for a generous cash prize, but will look to hopefully claim their chance at putting on the Green Jacket. A tradition as old as time, not only does The Masters give us an excuse to sit in-front of the TV all weekend, but also inspires us to chase that big winner, and while we may not get a Green Jacket for accomplishing such accolades, we'll certainly be seeing a little more Green in our bank accounts if done right. Regardless of what you know, If you're just watching for the thrill of it, or truly a fan, here's a little insight heading into the 2025 Maters!

If you followed the Masters in previous years, you'll likely know the past winner of 2022 & 2024 is none other than Scottie Scheffler. Looking to catch some of the greats like Jack Nicklaus, or Tiger Woods, he's been absolutely the best player on these greens the past few years, and he'll certainly be looking to follow that tradition, as he's started his 2025 campaign with three top 10 finishes, and recently a runner-up at the Houston Open. As the clear favourite to win the event, it'll be nice to see if he can manage a smooth transition into the tournament, and not have a repeat of the 2024 PGA Championship weekend, where he was rebellious and arrested. With all eyes on Scottie, there is someone lurking in the shadows, and that's none other than Rory McIlroy.

With two 1st place finishes and three top 10 finishes on the season, Rory has been the most consistent golfer of the 2025 season so far. He's come close to tasting sweet victory many times at the Masters, most memorable in 2011 when he led by 4 strokes going into the final round only to finish in 15th place, but can't seem to get over the hump. Coming in as the second-biggest favourite, will this finally be the year Rory puts on the Green Jacket? I think so.

Of course, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele, the winner of last year’s PGA Championship and Open Championship will look to cause some havoc, but since Rahm won it in 2023, he just hasn't looked the same since. A lot of these guys hit as heavy as Tyson could in a boxing ring, but they can't seem to find a finish in the short game, and that's not something you want to carry into the Masters. Realistically, this seems like it's going to be a competitive match-up between Scottie and Rory when it gets to the final day, and for golf fans, we couldn't ask for anything better.

All-in-all, this year's Masters will hurt a little with Tiger Woods being unable to play due to an Achilles injury, and it certainly won't feel the same without him, but as we head into the weekend, there's lots of great golf to be played. By the final day, Rory should find his way with a chance to finally win the Green Jacket, and if I had to predict an outcome, it is that he finally gets the burden of not winning off his shoulders, and truly works his way into becoming one of the best to play the game.

As always, Stock the fridge, tell the wife to pick up a weekend shift and drop the kids off at the grandparents, because Betcoin and The Masters are going to be bringing live action all weekend, and we're chasing the colour Green!
